Volunteer with us

Seagulls was developed on a voluntary basis and was grown around a kitchen table by 2 women who didn’t have a clue about business. They learnt as they went along and grew Seagulls into a brilliant social enterprise.

Portrait of Cat standing in front of a wall painted with words like

Seagulls really is a grassroots organisation

The Founders always said that if they could do it, anyone could. Cat is
still leading the enterprise and the holistic growth of Seagulls is still present in their work with people. In fact 90% of the staff team started as volunteers.

People in Seagulls aren’t a number and volunteer placements are tailored for the individual. We understand the many barriers people have to engaging and we understand that one model does not fit all.

What do volunteers do?

Collecting and reprocessing paint is messy, manual work. It can be repetitive but it’s never a dull moment. You can get involved through different volunteer roles:

  • Drivers mate
  • Mixing paint ready for sale
  • Sorting paint ready for safe disposal
  • Can crushing
  • Help in the paint store

How do I volunteer?

If the thought of shifting paint tins and mixing paint hasn’t put you off then please get in contact and we can arrange a time for you to visit. Depending on the roles you would like to try and any support needs will depend which day/s are available and if there is a waiting list.
